SECUREX: CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF APPLAUDS OSHAssociation's COMMITMENT TOWARDS FIRE SAFETY ADVOCACY.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo has described the Occupational Safety and Health Association as the linchpin of the nation’s revitalisation as far as Occupational Health and Workforce Safety is concerned in Nigeria.

Rear Admiral Gambo who was speaking at the Fire Safety Expo at the SECUREX 2022 conference which was held on the 10th of May 2022 at the Landmark Center, Lagos, applauded the strides of the OSHAssociation Nigeria Region for its advocacy strides towards full safety compliance in the country, especially in the area of Fire Safety which according to him has been a major challenge in the country.

According to him, OSHAssociation has worked acidulously ton its mandate in ensuring reduced figures and cases of fatalities, accidents and incidents especially as it regards fire disasters prevention in Nigeria.

The Fire Safety Conference with the theme: Strategies for preventing fire disasters in Nigeria brought together stakeholders from West Africa across all sectors of the economy to deliberate and proffer workable solutions that will ensure reduced cases and incidents of fire disaster in the region.

While declaring the event open, the Regional President OSHAssociation- Nigeria Region, Amb. Dr Olusegun Aderemi described the SECUREX West Africa as the leading exhibition and conference for the security, fire and safety industries. According to him SECUREX has since its inception established itself as the unmissable industry event of the year with world-leading brands taking part by demonstrating their products to senior buyers and government representatives from the region.

Aderemi decried the poor level of safety compliance in the region which according to him has become a critical issue that demands urgent attention, adding that all hands must be on deck to address this menace.

He, however, attested that SECUREX in partnership with OSHAssociation has worked to continuously advocate zero tolerance for deaths, accidents and other fatalities, especially in workplaces across the West African Region.

The Association during the event also recognized the outstanding professional accomplishment of five persons in various fields of Safety, Health and Environment by inducting them as “Fellow” Members of the Association. Four other individuals were also inducted as Members of the Association.

To achieve the mandate of increasing safety awareness and education among Nigerians, OSHAssociation remains focused on collaborating with relevant institutions and private organisations towards the pursuit of a safe, healthy and secured environment for all through advocacy and preventive approach.
