OSHAssociation Pays Courtesy Visit to the Newly Elected President of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria.

A delegation from the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHAssociation) Nigeria Region pay a courtesy visit to Ismaila Haruna Dankogi MOSHA, the newly elected President of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, Abuja Chapter. The visit aimed to foster collaboration and promote safety best practices in Nigeria.


During the visit, Mr. Ehimikhaui A. Harrison, a representative from OSHAssociation and the Chief of Staff to the Country’s Regional Administrator, conveyed a congratulatory message from the Regional President, HRH. AMB Olusegun Aderemi, to Ismaila Haruna Dankogi for his newly obtained position as the President.


Mr. Harrison also gave a brief introduction about OSHAssociation. He highlighted its mission and vision, emphasising its commitment to ensuring safety best practices across various sectors in Nigeria and beyond. He further emphasised the importance of prioritising safety best practices and the need for regular training and re-training to enhance workers’ understanding of safety protocols. By investing in the training of the workforce, he explained, that the goal is to create a safer working environment, prevent incidents, and reduce the risk of occupational diseases and fatalities. This, in turn, ensures that every worker can return home safely, even after retirement.


Ismaila Haruna Dankogi expressed his gratitude to the Regional President for reaching out to congratulate him and for the visit by the Association. He lamented the lack of value regarding safety issues among industry leaders and workers. To address this issue, he pledged the Collaboration of OSHAssociation and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to ensure that Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Desk Units is establish in every Ministry in Federal Capital Territory Administrator (FCTA), as outlined in the circular established by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.


He also introduced OSHAssociation to Mrs. Ogbonna Kate, the immediate director of the Environmental Health and Safety Department at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board. This introduction aimed to facilitate cooperation and coordination between OSHAssociation and the Abuja Environmental Protection Board.

The visit concluded with the presentation of OSHAssociation Table Calendar and Safety Advocacy Poster to Ismaila Haruna Dankogi. These materials will serve as reminders of the importance of safety in the workplace and promote OSH best practices among the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria.


The courtesy visit by OSHAssociation marks a significant step towards strengthening safety measures in Nigeria. Through collaboration and awareness campaigns, it is hoped that a culture of safety will permeate all sectors, ensuring the well-being of workers and the overall development of the nation.
