The Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHAssociation), Nigeria Region, a leading organisation dedicated to promoting workplace safety, recently demonstrated its commitment at the 32nd COREN Assembly, hosted by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria in Abuja. This year’s assembly, themed “Regulating Engineering Profession for Shared Prosperity in Nigeria,” highlighted the critical link between effective regulation and the progress of the engineering sector.
One of the primary objectives of OSHAssociation’s participation was to elevate awareness regarding the essential role of safety in engineering practices. The event provided a vibrant platform for OSHAssociation teams to engage with a diverse audience, including engineers, regulatory officials, industry leaders, and students. Through insightful discussions and interactive presentations, they underscored the importance of adhering to safety best practices in all facets of life, particularly in engineering.
OSHAssociation highlighted the necessity of strict compliance with safety regulations, emphasising the serious repercussions that can arise from neglecting safety practices. Attendees learned that prioritising safety not only protects individuals but also enhances the overall integrity and reputation of the engineering profession. Ignoring safety can lead to catastrophic outcomes, including injuries, financial losses, and damage to the environment.
OSHAssociation’s presence at the 32nd COREN Assembly was pivotal in reinforcing the message that safety must remain a top priority within the engineering profession. By advocating for safety best practices, OSHAssociation aims to ensure that Nigeria’s engineering sector not only thrives but does so in a safe, sustainable, and beneficial manner for all stakeholders involved.
As the engineering landscape continues to evolve, OSHAssociation remains dedicated to its mission of promoting safety, fostering collaboration, and advocating for a future where not only engineering but every sector can flourish without compromising on safety and well-being.
