AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE NATIONAL SAFETY ADVOCACY PROJECT
In line with the mandate of the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHAssociation) to achieve zero fatalities and incidents in workplaces, the National Safety Advocacy Project was developed, in partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and other stakeholders from public and private organisations. The project seeks to promote safety consciousness in workplaces, homes, schools, markets and public places; with the ultimate goal of achieving significant reduction in the occurrence of accidents and fatalities, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The project which was unveiled by the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire on 10th December 2020 during the Association’s 10th International Safety Conference, also had the support of other stakeholders from public and private sectors viz: The Hon. Minister of Environment, the Hon. Minister of Labour & Employment, the Hon. Minister of Water Resources and the Executive Governor of Lagos State, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, and other relevant stakeholders present at the event.
For the realisation of the project, OSHAssociation will be working closely with the Committee Members from various MDAs, private organisations, Health and Safety Advocates and Ambassadors to achieve a four-fold objective:
