Over the weekend, the Federal Polytechnic Nekede inaugurated the highly sought-after Occupational Safety and Health Association within the institution.

The event took place on Thursday, and it marked a significant milestone in the institution’s history, with Dr. ARIMANWA, the Rector, leading the way.

Prior to the launch, the polytechnic had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) from the United Kingdom. This partnership established the polytechnic as a Center of Excellence for internationally certified Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs.

During the launch, the Rector, represented by Deputy Rector (Academic) C.C. Onyemenonu, expressed great joy at the collaboration between the Federal Polytechnic Nekede and OSHA UK. The Rector emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing comprehensive training on occupational safety, highlighting the management’s strong focus on safety issues.

Dr. A.C. Madu, the Centre Coordinator and Director of Linkages and Interventions, revealed the various OSHA UK HSE programs that would be offered at the polytechnic. These programs include courses on Fire and Safety Prevention, Environmental Impact Assessment, Hazard Identification and Control, OSH Professional, OSH Security and Safety, OSH Oil and Gas, and others. All the courses hold both local and international recognition, and graduates with the certificates have excellent prospects for employment and visas abroad.

The program was launched with a vibrant road-show, featuring enthusiastic members of the association, to formally announce the commencement of the OSHA program at the progressive Federal Polytechnic Nekede
