Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma Bags OSHAssociation Honourary Fellowship, Seeks Partnership with the Association on Public Safety Awareness.

Following the desire and demand for peace and safety of lives in Imo State, the Executive Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma urged Imo citizens to embrace the safety and security of lives and properties in the state.

The Executive Governor made known to his delegates his willingness to ensure proactive safety measures in the state during the 1st Imo Safety and Fire Summit organised by the Imo Government Public Safety Office in collaboration with the Occupational Safety and Health Association United Kingdom (OSHAssociation UK), the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, Imo State Fire Service and other stakeholders within the state.

The Governor disclosed through his Deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku that he had made a vow to put an end to various incidents and fatalities happening within the state and ensure that safety measures are in place to prevent any form of security threat, fire incidents and other environmental hazards within our various environments.

The Deputy Governor further appreciated the Occupational Safety and Health Association United kingdom (OSHAssociation UK) Nigeria Region for recognising the Executive Governor of Imo State with the Conferment of Honourary Fellow Membership and Safety Ambassador Award. He expressed his happiness and made the OSHAssociation Executives understand that Governor Hope Uzodimma is the best Governor to receive such an honour and recognition, following his efforts and commitment to ensure the safety and security of lives and properties in Imo State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Safety, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe in his address earlier disclosed that the summit was fashioned to share analytical ideas and proffer professional solutions to the lingering security and safety challenges in the state. Hon. Nzekwe noted that the event has created a platform for participants to understand the processes of identifying hazards in the environment and addressing same timely before it destroys lives and properties.

 

The Regional President of OSHAssociation Nigeria Region, HRH, Dr Amb. Olusegun Aderemi said the Association was poised to join hands with the Imo State government at all levels to enhance safety consciousness and culture in Imo State. He further advised that the safety of lives and properties in the state is the business of everyone.
