Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Uwalaka Bagged GMA Fellowship, Charged Graduating Candidates on Maritime Safety Compliance.

Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Uwalaka, Executive Director of the Middle East and Africa Region has been conferred with the prestigious GMA Fellowship Award by the Global Maritime Academy (GMA). This recognition comes in light of his significant contributions and expertise towards promoting occupational safety and health best practices in the Maritime industry.

The GMA ceremony marked the graduation of successful students from various department of the Academy. The event, held at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun Warri, saw the presence of distinguished guests, including the Governor of Delta State, who was represented by Professor Nyerovwo Tonukari, Commissioner of Higher Education; Dr. Mike Egbago, Rector of GMA; Mr. Dafe Ogunje, Registra of GMA; Professor Christopher Orubu, Chairman of the Governing Council of GMA; CEOs from various indigenous companies; and administrative staff, students from the Global Maritime Academy and the general public.

Engr Dr Emmanuel Uwalaka who commended the accomplishment of Global Maritime Academy, according to Dr. Egbago, Rector of GMA, are proof of the high caliber of education that the institution offers. GMA has also been instrumental in developing students’ intellectual capacities and instilling in them the ideals of knowledge, morality, and persistent effort. Additionally, he respectfully asked for cooperation to upgrade infrastructure and asked for ongoing assistance for expansion and improvement.

Professor Christopher Orubu said in his speech that the school’s achievements have been fueled by the hard work of its faculty, industry partnerships, and students’ dedication. He also mentioned that GMA has consistently been recognised as a leader in maritime education, leadership, and international cooperation.

In addition to the awarding diplomas and certificates, the graduating candidates were charged by Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Uwalaka with a crucial responsibility of ensuring safety measure and compliance in operation. He emphasised the significance of maritime safety compliance in their future roles within the industry. He stressed the importance of adhering to international safety standards and regulations to ensure the well-being of personnel and the preservation of resources.
